Cigarette pack inserts. My pack, my choice.
May 2012. Sometimes it's the simple, cheap and easy solution that's overlooked. It's your cigarette pack, so you chose what you display. Print them out or make your own! [Continue]
Brussels denies French Rights.
May 2012. Considers the probability that Brussels favours certain politicians and will interfere in national politics to ensure their mutual survival. [Continue]
Public consultation on plain tobacco packaging.
April 2012. I've included this link because the anti's are using every trick imaginable, including multiple fake responses, in their effort to make plain cigarette packs a reality. Dick Puddlecote explains their techniques and what pitfalls to avoid if you'd like to register your objection. [Continue]
Andrew Lansley and his vision of smoking in future Britain.
April 2012. Actually our Andy isn't too good with detail, nor strategy, nor consistency and he's pretty awful as a visionary. But he does know how to milk the system. At that he's positively brilliant. [Continue]
George Galloway ~ Bradford West by-election.
April 2012. George won fair and square. The other parties can try to spin it any which way they like, it was indeed "a kick in the teeth for mainstream parties". [Continue]
6th Anniversary of the smoking ban in Scotland.
March 2012. We're used to obscure statistics and amorphous reasons to justify the smoking ban and to further measures to "help" us quit. We know they're an insult to intelligence. Now neutral observers in the Mass Media agree they've exceeded the limits of credibility and some are calling for an end to the "witch hunt". [Continue]
Kids for Cash, Male Infertility, Sperm Donors, Smokers.
March 2012. Wanted to learn more about the £35 they pay sperm donors and their markup. And if smokers are excluded. Short answers are 1,960% and yes. What I did not expect is the degree of exploitation, a crude form of eugenics and an mindset that was obsolete in the 1950's. Their treatment of donors is far from acceptable in light of recent changes in legislation and it seems the HFEA itself is in need of a top down overhaul to drag it into the 21st century. [Continue]
Stephen Williams, plain packaging and the Parliamentary Group on Smoking and Health.
February 2012. In contrast to his stance on homophobia, Stephen's very quick to revert to stereotypes, name calling as well as insults when trying to belittle smokers. Now that's not a nice thing to do to the people you're paid to represent. Not very nice at all. [Continue]
Too much grieving can kill. Another benefit of nicotine.
January 2012. Lots of money pouring into "research" projects. Some blatantly commercial, some to only come up with findings we've known from pre-history, with Stirling University discovering new ways to suck eggs. [Continue]
Feltham & Heston by-election 15 Dec 2011.
December 2011. Three parties want to see changes to the smoking ban. Between them they took 9.2% of the vote and that's an increase of 67% from the general election. [Continue]
Free bus passes, cost overruns, supermarket tax.
November 2011. This is Scotland where virtually everything is grossly underestimated, supervised by incompetents and unbelievably expensive to administer. Now the SNP want supermarkets that sell booze and tobacco to pay for their cock-ups. [Continue]
Good on yer Occupy Wall Street!
November 2011. They've got one thing in common with many smokers, they cannot abide Michael Bloomberg! [Continue]
Smoker community. Only a small minority?
November 2011. What the smoking ban has achieved is the creation of a smoker community. No we don't do marches nor attempt to occupy any street. On the other hand we have a shared belief that something's wrong and we want to see change. [Continue]

Owner-run businesses with small premises can allow smoking throughout. Those with larger premises, or who employ staff, can offer indoor smoking rooms (Rookruimte). The majority, especially restaurants, have chosen to remain non-smoking although a significant number offer some form of outdoor space. In some cases these are semi-permanent structures with extensive screening, windbreaks, awnings and heaters. This list concentrates only on Brown Cafes, pubs, bars and restaurants that allow smoking or offer smoking rooms in Amsterdam as well as Schiphol Airport. [Continue]

italy flag  Restaurants and Pubs with smoking rooms in Turin.

Subject to space restrictions a legally compliant smoking room can be provided anywhere (Sala Fumatori). It must conform to rules about air filtration so staff can serve food and drink in them. Only a tiny proportion have the space or funds to provide an indoor smoking room, most preferring to upgrade their outdoor areas with screens etc., or even bespoke tent like structures. This list provides details of restaurants, pubs, cafes and nightclubs that offer indoor smoking rooms in Turin and surrounding areas. [Continue]

ireland flag  Pubs and Restaurants with smoking areas in Ireland.

Ireland only allows outdoor smoking areas. The listing includes some of the pubs, restaurants and clubs with dedicated smoking areas throughout Ireland. These range from standard beer gardens to purpose built facilities, reputed to have cost in excess of 1 million Euro, that some describe as smoking rooms. They're not; they're outdoor smoking areas... Irish Style. [Continue]
